Steps Out In Prada
One of the biggest events in the celebrity social calendar took place in New York City last night: the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, better known as the Met Gala or Met Ball. Stars in attendance included pop singers Beyonce and Rihanna, and actresses such as Scarlett Johansson and Carey Mulligan.
British actress Carey was of particular interest to the press, as it was her first public appearance since her wedding to Mumford and Sons lead singer Marcus Mumford last month. Mulligan posed happily for the cameras on the red carpet and showed off her wedding ring, a simple gold band, which she wore alongside her flashier diamond engagement ring. The jewellery complemented her shimmering gold-and-silver Prada dress, which featured large round sequins resembling fish scales and had a halterneck design.
Fish also seemed to be the inspiration for Sofia Vergara, who impressed onlookers with her silver fishtail Marchesa dress. However, the most attention on the night was drawn by Beyonce, who showed off her post-baby body in a revealing Givenchy gown, and Jessica Biel, who used the opportunity to show off the engagement ring she has recently received from fellow A-Lister Justin Timberlake.
