The Women Of Team GB

The women of Team Great Britain, poised and competing for gold over the next few weeks, are not only talented athletes but are fast becoming brand names in their own right. Gracing magazine covers, endorsing a variety of products and becoming famous faces up and down the country, we have a team representing us this summer that we can be truly proud of.

Jessica EnnisJessica Ennis

The star of this year's Summer Games already, Jessica Ennis (track and field) has appeared on countless magazine covers, has several advertising endorsements and is often clocked on the red carpet looking fabulously in shape in couture. The pressure for her to bring back a gold medal must be immense but she has won the hearts of the British already, with her aptitude as a sportswoman, her fabulous looks and her seemingly normal and down-to-earth demeanour.

Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins

This dynamic duo of rowing won gold at the World Championships in Slovenia last year. It was Grainger's sixth world title in nine years and she has also won silver in the last three Olympics. After missing the gold in Beijing, she paired up with Watkins, with whom she remains unbeaten in the 2012 World Cup Season.

Rebecca AdlingtonRebecca Adlington

Having won not one, but two golds at the Beijing Olympics for swimming, there are high hopes that Adlington will repeat that feat at this summer’s London-hosted games. Aged just 23, Adlington is an English freestyle swimmer who specialises in the 400 metre and 800 metre events and has broken records at the Olympics and most major European and British competitions.

Sarah Stevenson

Sarah Stevenson has been in the papers a lot, and not only because she is at the pinnacle of her career in Taekwondo. She currently holds the world title, which is second only to the Olympic crown. But she has also made headlines because she won the title in the same year she lost both of her parents to cancer. She has battled on and will still take the Olympic stage this summer, which will no doubt be incredibly emotional for all involved.

Paula RadcliffeVictoria Thornley

Part of Team GB's rowing team, Thornley not only looks the part but she has a glowing CV to back up the hype. During the 2012 World Cup season, Thornley and her team won bronze in Belgrade and at the 2010 World Rowing Championships on New Zealand's Lake Karapiro, Vicky and her crewmates came 4th in the women's eight. So sporty is Thornley, she was a professional show jumper before committing to rowing, making extra modelling on the side. Let's hope she brings us one of the coveted golds this year.
