Annie Lennox marries Dr Mitch Besser in boat ceremony

Scottish singer Annie Lennox is a married woman again after tying the knot with her American partner, Dr Mitch Besser, last weekend. Besser is her third husband and the wedding surprised fans as Lennox had previously vowed never to get married again. However, after dating gynaecologist Mitch for three years, it seems 57-year-old Annie was persuaded to give marriage another try. According to her Facebook page, she has even changed her name to Mrs Lennox Besser.

The wedding took place during a boat party on the River Thames. It was a small private event but a few of Lennox's celebrity friends attended, including actor Colin Firth and comedienne Ruby Wax. Annie wore a traditional white dress but customised it with a lace bolero shrug and a 1920s-inspired headpiece. Mitch wore a grey suit with a pastel-coloured tie.

Rather than selling her wedding photos to a magazine, Annie posted one picture of herself with her new husband on her Facebook page, along with photos of her wedding flowers. She also posted a message thanking her fans "for your congratulatory messages," which has already received over 20,000 likes after just one day.
